Linerless Labels Solutions

Innovative, Sustainable & High-Performance Linerless Labels. UK Labels supplies high-quality Linerless label solutions designed to improve operational efficiency, reduce waste, and deliver reliable adhesive performance across a wide range of industries. Available as both stock and fully custom printed solutions, our Linerless labels are manufactured to meet demanding production, logistics, retail, and food packaging requirements.

What are Linerless Labels?

Linerless labels are self-wound labels manufactured without a traditional release liner, helping businesses reduce material waste while increasing the number of labels per roll. This provides:

  • Reduced storage requirements
  • Fewer roll changes
  • Lower transport costs
  • Improved sustainability
  • Increased production efficiency

Our Linerless Printer Maintenance Guide covers essential maintenance and troubleshooting tips for reliable printing in Quick Service Restaurants (QSRs).

Adhesive Options

Acrylic vs Hotmelt Adhesive

Acrylic Adhesive

Acrylic adhesives are water-based and provide excellent long-term performance, clarity, and environmental resistance.

Advantages:

  • Excellent UV resistance
  • Good resistance to ageing and yellowing
  • Performs well in varying temperatures
  • Strong adhesion to clean, smooth surfaces
  • Good moisture and chemical resistance
  • Suitable for long-term label applications

Typical Applications:

Retail pricing labels

Food packaging

Outdoor applications

Product identification labels

Logistics and warehousing

Pharmaceutical and healthcare labeling

Considerations:

  • Slower initial tack compared to hotmelt
  • May require slightly longer dwell time to achieve full
bond strength

Hot Melt Adhesive

Hotmelt adhesives are rubber-based and designed to provide immediate, aggressive adhesion.

Advantages:

  • Very high initial tack (“grab”)
  • Excellent adhesion to difficult surfaces
  • Performs well on corrugated cardboard
  • Bonds quickly in automated application systems
  • Effective on recycled packaging materials
  • Good performance on rough and irregular surfaces

Typical Applications:

Shipping and dispatch labels

E-commerce packaging

Warehouse logistics

Corrugated cartons

Frozen food packaging

High-speed print-and-apply systems

Considerations:

  • Less UV resistant than acrylic
  • Can soften at higher temperatures
  • Generally shorter lifespan for long-term applications

Stock & Custom Printed Labels

UK Labels offers:

  • Plain stock linerless labels
  • Custom printed linerless labels in up to 4 colours

Our custom print capabilities allow businesses to create fully branded, high-performance label solutions tailored to operational requirements

For Digital Retail Scales, Butchers & Delicatessens

For most retail weighing scale applications, acrylic adhesive is generally preferred because it offers cleaner conversion, better resistance to oils and moisture, stable performance in refrigerated display cabinets.

Manufacturing Excellence

Our Linerless Capabilities

For linerless labels, consistency is critical. From coating and converting through to printing, application and end use, every element needs to work together. Our dedicated linerless manufacturing capability, rigorous quality controls and ongoing R&D are focused on delivering consistent quality, reliable application performance and confidence throughout the life of the label.

Capabilities

Our Linerless manufacturing capability includes four dedicated coating and converting lines, designed and engineered specifically for the production of Linerless materials. Precision process controls help ensure consistent adhesive application, with additional capabilities including two-colour inline printing and inline slitting.

Quality

Quality is built into every stage of our linerless manufacturing process. From raw material evaluation and coating control through to finished-product testing, defined quality procedures help ensure consistent adhesive, release, print and converting performance. Our Linerless products undergo application-focused testing to assess performance throughout their intended life cycle. This can include adhesion and release testing, environmental conditioning, ageing and product-life evaluation, helping ensure reliable performance through conversion, printing and application to final end use.

Research & Development

Our Linerless capability is underpinned by ongoing research and development across adhesives, release systems and material performance. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, we consider the interaction between adhesive, facestock, environment, release system, application surface and end-use environment to develop solutions for specific application requirements. Continuous development and product-life testing enable us to evaluate new adhesive technologies, materials and constructions, while continually enhancing the performance, consistency and reliability of our Linerless portfolio.
